If you haven't made a trip to Gotham West Market since it opened last fall, there are two new mouthwatering additions that are worth checking out. The first is temporary — a summer-long pop-up from Ohio's cult-favorite ice cream shop Jeni's Splendid. I stopped by on their opening day to sample some of the flavors and know I'll be going back soon for more scoops of the Pineapple Upside Down Cake and Salty Caramel.
I also grabbed lunch at the new taco stand Choza, opened by former La Esquina chef Akhtar Nawab. From the nine different "proteins," I chose carne asada, fish and lamb barbacoa. The last was definitely my favorite — juicy, not too gamey and topped with a refreshingly sweet corn salsa.
